CCI Co-Counselling is short for

  1. the Co-Counselling method practised within the CCI (Co-Counselling International) and
  2. all the individuals and groups who have trained in and practice CCI co-counselling.

CCI was set up in 1974 by John Heron from the UK and Tom and Dency Sargent from the USA.

A de facto common understanding of how CCI co-counselling is practised can be found in John Heron's "A definition of CCI" 1996.

Through the years some variety in the practice of CCI Co-Counselling has developed. Co-Counselling International (CCI) is peer, everyone has equal status, with nobody 'deciding' what the true 'nature' of co-counselling is about.
