Dear CCI Co-Counsellor,
we invite you to come to this summer residential at a wonderful venue, an absolute gem in a peaceful and secluded location in Derbyshire within easy reach of transport hubs.
Until 2026 a summer week was sadly missing in our UK calendar over a few recent years, but this event offers us the chance of spending time together in a beautiful place that some of us already love and treasure. We were very pleased with how the first Summer Week CCI-UK went in 2026: it seemed like it was everything that a CCI residential could be, with laughing and crying, jumping and lounging, chatting and singing, and everything in between. The food was fantastic! We’ve booked the same venue for next year.
The venue
+++
Unstone Grange is one of our favourite venues: it’s a large old house with lots of character, nice light workshop spaces and a very peaceful vibe.
The extensive grounds are exquisitely beautiful, and offer gardens, lawns, trees, a pond, a bonfire site, an orchard, and a quiet camping field. It thus offers a retreat from the traffic and busyness of our world.
Moreover, it’s run by a Trust, with whom we’ve built up a good relationship over the last three decades. The people at the Unstone Grange Trust bring a rare degree of care and commitment to respecting the beauty of our planet, its living beings, and the health of us humans, whether physical, emotional, mental or spiritual.
Inclusivity
+++
This event is peer-led, and we’ll co-create the event together as we move through the week. If you have trained in CCI co-counselling you are welcome to come to this residential, irrespective of whether you have previously attended this kind of event.
We’ll be paying attention from the start to our aspiration that all participants feel equally included. On the first evening, the agenda for that meeting will be created by the group: you may add anything to the agenda.
During each morning Opening Circle anyone may offer or request a workshop or other activity. Even though every Circle has tasks, focus and time limits, we hope that every participant will feel that they will be heard when voicing their needs, irrespective of the apparent significance of those needs.
Food
+++
In 2026 our food was lovingly made by two wonderful co-counsellors, Helena and Richard. We have always loved the way they prepare food that’s wholesome, tasty and varied. We’ll make sure that our food is equally wonderful for 2027, whoever we book. It’s too early as yet to confirm our arrangeements.
It’ll be vegetarian by default. Vegan options will be on offer. Special dietary needs will be accommodated where possible.
We’ll all take turns washing up and clearing away.
Sleeping accommodation
+++
Sleeping in the house is in shared bedrooms, (2 to 4 people each), which are light and comfortable. Most have views of the grounds.
The camping field is very spacious and secluded.
