Residential CCI Workshop

Co-co Family-Friendly Week at Laurieston Hall

English

Type of Event:

This is a residential workshop for all CCI co-counsellors.

The 2020 workshop at Laurieston Hall is a space to fill with workshops, coco sessions, support groups, walks, music, dancing, cabaret and bonfires. This is a long-running workshop in a beautiful setting.  Please join us.

The workshop can accommodate 64 people in total, including children. ALL places must be booked in advance.

There are ample workshop spaces, both indoor and outdoor.

This is a child-friendly residential with limited places for children and young people aged 0-17. (Those aged 18 and over need to complete a fundamentals in order to attend the event.)  The teenagers will be invited to attend a ‘Good listening’ module as a first step into the co-counselling community. There is a ‘kids club’ provided during workshop hours, although some young children may need parental support.

Update: 2 April 2020 - Coronavirus

We are still hoping that this workshop will go ahead.  Laurieston Hall have told us that they are reviewing the situation regularly and will continue to do so, taking into account government and local authority guidelines and the needs of their residents.  They will make a decision on the operation of summer workshops (this being one) by 18th June. If you are interested in attending, please register your interest by completing a booking form and paying a deposit, as if we have too few bookings the event may be deemed not to be viable anyway.

McCoCo 2020

English

Type of Event:

Come to McCoCo 2020

Four Day Residential:
Thursday 30th April 5pm to Monday 4th May 3pm

Wiston Lodge

We all love coming to the beautiful venue at Wiston Lodge for this annual co-counselling residential, and we hope you’ll join us in spring next year to co-create another great experience together.

We are delighted to offer the McCoCo 2020 residential workshop. We are offering this exciting, international, supportive and beautiful space from Thursday evening 30 April to Monday 4 May. This will be the 22nd McCoCo residential workshop. The Monday is usually a Bank Holiday for everyone in the UK, although this year that's different (because of VE day celebrations).

We have booked again the wonderful venue 45 miles south of Edinburgh called Wiston Lodge. It is a magnificent 19th century former hunting lodge, set in 52 acres of beautiful grounds, including much woodland and streams. There are several spaces suitable for different kinds of workshops including a hall for dancing and a big room for the opening circles. For more pictures of the venue, click here.

The workshop program will follow the same format as many other co-counselling residentials,: a structure will be offered within which the  participants will co-create the programme each day. Anyone can offer a co-counselling workshop or ask for a topic group, massage, music, meditation or indeed any activity that makes your heart sing. As well as participating in workshops and support groups or simply having co-counselling sessions you can choose to enjoy dancing, chatting with people from overseas in front of a log fire, walking in the lovely grounds or up the nearby Tinto hill etc.On the final evening we often have a ceilidh (informal cabaret).

Are you hesitating? New to Co-Counselling?

We extend an especially warm welcome to Co-Counsellors who have recently completed Core Training Fundamentals or who have not been to an event like this before. This event provides an opportunity for you to meet Co-Counsellors from throughout the UK and beyond. We will offer a workshop at the beginning of the workshop to help eveyone settle in to the event.

Feeling rusty...?
No problem, the only requirements for having sessions is to be able

  • to give your free, aware caring attention to your client
  • to refuse to enter into a session contract or to give a suggestion if you don't want to
  • to keep confidentiality

If you are able to do this, you will very quickly remember again what you have learnt earlier in Co-Counselling, especially when you experience the support, freedom and encouragement that McCoCo has on offer.

Staying with a co-counsellor before of after McCoCo
We can possibly offer accommodation with Co-Counsellors in Edinburgh or the local region.

INFORMATION

Enquiries about food, travel, booking and everything else.... please see our website www.mccoco.org

McCoCo will be a drug-free workshop. That includes alcohol, but not prescription drugs, caffeine and tobacco smoked outside the building.

We are looking forward to seeing you at McCoCo 2020

Bye for now,

Kate, Lilian, Mick, Richard and Vicki

Bursary requests i.e. reduced fees

We are unable to subsidise places for folks who may not afford to come to McCoCo out of our general pot: the full fees that people pay allow no surplus.

Here-and-Now Group at Barmoor 13-16 Dec 2019

English

Type of Event:

Hello wonderful co-counsellors

I am pleased to invite you to this event that I have organised….
NB it’s already nearly full… only 2 places are left.

Meeting Yourself and Others:
Unique Moments Together in the Here-And-Now
Barmoor, YO62 6UE, North Yorks.
13 – 16 Dec 2019

For co-counsellors only
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

This group provides a space for people to come together and relate authentically with each other in the 'Here and Now'.

The invitation is to:

• Stay in the here and now, to stay present, and notice your thoughts, feelings, wishes and needs..

• Say anything you like

• Be in an exploratory group with no fixed agenda, and allow space for the unexpected.

• Experience a group of equals where there is no leader.
The experience will be both interpersonal and intra-personal. This means that there is an element of relating to others in the group, so it's inter-active, but it also provides an opportunity for internal reflection, about how you are, in the moment.

Confidentiality
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

This H+N group is one continuous group over the weekend, so that in each of the H+N sessions we may refer back to the other ones.

The co-counselling ground rules re: confidentiality apply.

The venue is now booked by us up until Monday 16th Dec at 11.00am.

The formal circles will still end as previously advertised, at 5pm Sunday, and then we’ll eat together. After that, those of us that wish may stay at the venue until the Monday morning for a leisurely departure… we’ll decide at the event how to spend that extra time.

Please avoid taking alcohol or non-prescription psychoactive medicines at the event.

2.30pm – 5.00pm

However, these times are open to negotiation: during the circles on Friday evening and Saturday morning and Sunday morning we may discuss alternative timings.
If we reach no agreement that everyone can live with, then the default times will apply.

We’ll decide as a group how to spend the Saturday evening.

The Guest House (by Rumi)
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

This being human is a guest-house
Every morning a new arrival
A joy, a depression, a mean-ness, some momentary awareness
Comes as an unexpected visitor
Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they're a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture
Still treat each guest honourably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight.
That dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.

The potential benefits of this type of group might be:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

• Authenticity
• Aliveness
• Getting in touch with yourself…feeling ‘connected up’
• Getting in touch with others…connections
• ‘Uncertainty training’
• The ability to wait
• Getting feedback from others
• Self-knowledge
